Our East Coast team recently visited Porto as part of their incentive, and were joined by a special guest from our LA office too! With a history dating back to the 500’s, we knew there was going to be lots to do & see there! We enjoyed 3 nights away, staying in Porto’s old town and despite the terrible weather predictions of non-stop thunderstorms, were very lucky and even saw sunshine one day.
After a late flight the night before (with a long delay!), we kicked off our first day with a delicious breakfast at a local cafe and quickly learnt that the coffee in Portugal is the stuff of dreams. We then headed out for some sightseeing, climbing up to the very top of the Clerigos Tower for some stunning views out across the Douro River and over Porto - 75 meters up! Take a look at some of our shots here:
A morning well spent with lots of exploring and culture, we ventured across the river and up the hills for a Port Tour and Tasting at Grahams. Getting to go into the cellars, see their original account books dating back hundreds of years and then tasting a single harvest port was incredible!
Our second day didn’t start too well with a few of us getting up and out early to watch the rugby world cup final - luckily we didn’t let the result get us down, well not too much, and enjoyed the rest of the day walking around the old town and visiting little bars with only 5 or 6 tables.
Porto is a stunning city, there is so much culture, great port and lots of hills! Our team thoroughly enjoyed their break there, and we would all highly recommend it for anyone looking for a weekend away!
