Job Description

A fast growing London base technology company are seeking a Head of Engineering to help drive the Engineering landscape of the client.
 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing a team of developers (nearshore), supporting them in building an industry leading corporate wellness offering

  • Guiding, mentoring and leading the transformation from the monolithic code base to a micro-service and serverless based architecture.

  • Engender a positive culture of productivity, predictability and quality across the engineering team aimed at delivering best-in-class products and services

  • Ensuring the engineering strategy underpins and informs the wider company strategy

  • Working closely with the CEO and Product team to shape the development strategy for ongoing product development and scalability.

  • Work with the team to seek and evaluate new technology and tools as opportunities for innovation and development excellence.

  • Responsibility for technical strategy across multiple platforms, including web, android, and iOS

 

Skills:

  • An experienced leader of multiple teams, preferably across multiple locations (Europe)

  • Experience of establishing standards for best practices in coding, code reviews, test automation, build and deployment processes

  • Expert knowledge of software architecture including micro-services and event-driven architectures (LAMP)

  • Demonstrate a passion for and understanding of existing and emerging technologies

  • Good understanding of relational and non-relational data stores along with ACID compliance and eventual consistency

  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical people

  • Proven track record of development of team members, through understanding their career aspirations and having clear, well-understood career paths to allow people to grow

  • Experience of strategic development of a software development function including implementation of Agile and DevOps

  • Excellent understanding of PHP

  • Ability to lead full stack technical solutions, ensuring they are tested, scalable, security compliant, optimised, well documented and are using relevant coding standards

  • Experienced reviewing proposals, designs and specifications to ensure they are implementable, proposing suitable alternatives if necessary
