Job Description

A growing B2B software leader who are backed by successful and reputable investors have recently closed a large investment round are are looking for a Devops Lead Engineer to join a team of five.

The Team:

The engineers build the tools and workflows that allow customer to be more efficient and productive in a competitive marketplace. My client  focuses on providing simple, elegant solutions to complex problems.

What You Will Do:

  • Own and operate the production environment of the platform from day one

  • Build, maintain, and expand cloud infrastructure

  • Design and implement solutions for configuration management and monitoring

  • Work closely with the engineering team to evolve the application infrastructure and improve performance engineering.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, or 4 years of relevant work experience with some of computer science concepts

  • Curiosity and drive to make things happen and make things move faster.

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Be a team player and work closely with developers and operations.

  • Excellent understanding of Linux (Ubuntu or other distro) system administration, configuration and command-line tools

  • Ability to write code/scripts using modern dynamic languages such as Python, Go, Ruby.

  • Experience in operating a high-availability, cloud-based web application environment, on Amazon EC2 or other cloud provider

  • Understanding of standard internet protocols (Ethernet, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, HTTP, etc.)

  • Familiarity with network security and vulnerability management

  • Experience with Puppet, Chef or other configuration management systems and concepts

  • Familiarity with version control software (we use Git)

  • Experience with Monitoring, Instrumentation and

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a "continuous delivery/deployment” environment and supporting tools

  • Experience with JVM in a production environment

  • Experience with messaging patterns/architecture (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, AMQP, Kafka)

  • Ability to configure and customize monitoring tools (Nagios, Zenoss, New Relic, Graphite, etc)

  • Hands on experience with server build automation

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, or others
