My client are seeking their first Data Scientist who can join our growing data team. They are looking for someone who can help in understanding their data and model algorithms, and can ultimately drive features that are used in their product. 

 Your role will include:

  • Innovate and build new data products that move key company metrics
  • Work closely with our marketplace, operations, and product teams to define projects & scope
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with our engineers to productize the projects you work on
  • Be a self-starter - proactively solving problems by identifying opportunities for product growth and business value potential
  • Use discrete math, probability, and statistics to answer complex questions

You will be responsible for:

  • Iterating and updating algorithms that we use to match the best attorney for a job
  • Separating the signal and noise within our marketplace to ensure our attorneys aren't wasting their time
  • Using statistical analysis and data mining techniques to help understand how user's interact with the client and whether new or experimental features should be launched
  • Maintaining and creating new algorithms to bring data and insights, such as demand vs supply forecasting to our customers at scale
  • Designing, executing, and analyzing experiments that test different approaches for the problems that occur 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven technical background as a data scientist or a PhD in a quantitative field
  • 2-3 years focusing on data science at a startup
  • An understanding of statistics and data science methods
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and execute projects from start to finish (Spec to implementation)
  • The ability to write clean and concise code - especially in R, Matlab or Python (Ruby, JS, etc.)
  • Spark, Sci-kit learn, MLlib, or other machine learning libraries  
  • SQL and Database Experience (Postgres, Redshift, Vertica, MySql, MemSQL)
  • Bonus: Marketplace Experience (Supply and Demand)
  • Bonus: A familiarity with NoSQL storage (MongoDB)
